Turing test by MIT Technology Review

The Turing test is a common test to see how intelligent computers can be. The Turing test can be tricky to do correctly. An interrogator will ask questions to the test subject. The two test subjects are separated and have no physical contact. The test subjects responses are then evaluated in order to find out if they can recognize non-human and human responses. If they answer one question differently from a machine, a human might fail the Turing Test.

Also controversial is the Turing Test. Some critics say that the Turing Test does not measure high-intelligent behavior. A machine must pass this test if it wants to be as intelligent and capable as a human. The machine should also not seem to be too intelligent. For example, solving computational problems impossible for a person would make it appear that they aren't human.
